Three responsa for the 13th of Tishrei, all revolving around failures. A man hires a mohel who travels to the brit milah, only to find that the father gave the gig to someone else. A lapsed Jew is supposed to perform chalitzah, but might have died, and a rabbi publicly shows that he's no longer a faithful Jew.
