Chaggai #6, Zechariah #1 (Chapter 1)
Chaggai had 4 messages:
- It's time to build the Bet HaMikdash - don't wait for permission or miracles;
- A Bet HaMikdash is not just made from stone, it is comprised of the people's actions - do teshuva!
- The message to the Kohanim to learn the laws of the avodah and tumah/tahara
- His message to Zerubavel that he will be moshiach or the progenitor of moshiach.
Rashi introduces the book of Zechariah by saying that we do not have the ability to fully understand Zechariah's prophecy and even the explanations until the final redemption. Zechariah's prophecies are always accompanied by an angel ("המלאך הדובר בי").
Zechariah's introductory message is: Do Teshuva! There won't be much more prophecy after me (Zechariah). Zechariah's vision of a man riding on a red horse.
